Debbie from Chicago, IL

Just moved into an apartment after years of homelessness! I need household basics.

I'm excited to begin to get my life back on track. I need basic furniture and household items for my apartment to sleep well and feel at home.

Overview

My name is Debbie and I have just signed a lease on a new apartment! After being homeless for a number of years I am excited to begin to get my life back on track. I have a limited income.

My goals are to get proper rest and begin looking for employment.

I am in need of furniture and household items for my new apartment like a futon bed, curtains, and a blender. I am currently sleeping on the floor and would love to be able to get a proper night's rest.

Meeting this need will help me because these items will allow me to get proper rest and begin to look for a job as I am currently sleeping on the floor. It will also be nice to be able to feel at home in my new space.

I began working with Debbie in October of 2013. She had been living on public transportation and we started working on housing together. In our first case management meeting we were able to find shelter for Debbie and she has been doing great ever since. In the short time I have known Debbie she has gone from homeless to her own apartment and is now looking to further her goals by obtaining employment. Debbie is determined and energetic and very deserving of this help.
