Overview

I am a 21 year old former foster youth that currently works with former foster youth as a peer adviser in the Bay Area. I also am in the FUP housing program through Beyond Emancipation.

My goals are to continue my education and obtain my Bachelor's degree in Human Development. I also plan to continue my education, so I can better serve former foster youth. I would love to remain in this field.

I need a laptop so that I can have immediate access to a computer instead of going to the library. I will also be enrolling into school for the Fall 2014 semester, so I will need this for my homework assignments.

Meeting this need will help me because it will provide me with access to the internet and assist me with my assignments, which are online.

I have known CJ through Beyond Emancipation's FUP Housing program for a little over a year. CJ was challenged with finding housing in his current city of residence because housing is so scarce. However, CJ found housing quickly and was able to research and use his resources. CJ also recently got a job working part-time with former foster youth (at a different agency) and is very passionate about this. I have coached CJ around what this work entails and any support he might need while doing this field of work. CJ is motivated, educated and enjoys utilizing his resources.
