I was homeless for 4 years and I've finally gotten my own apartment! It's empty, so I need some kitchen and bedroom furniture to make it a home.

Overview

I am 47 years old, born and raised in Chicago, and I'm formerly homeless. I have a strong Christian faith and I love helping people as much as I can.

My goals are to find part-time work and maintain my new apartment. I was homeless for four years and I'm so excited to have a new space to call home. I would love to help out the community as much as possible and give back to those in need whenever I can.

I need some household items to help make my new apartment complete and keep it clean on a regular basis. Some items I need include: kitchen table and chairs, silverware, bedroom dresser and mirror, futon, and basic cleaning supplies.

Meeting this need will help me because my new apartment is a little bare right now and I only have a bed, air mattress, and a few place settings. Purchasing these additional items will help make my apartment a comfortable and clean home.

I have known Milton for several years through various agencies I have worked for. Milton regularly comes to the EDSSC for clothing and food needs and was happy to share the news of his new apartment with me a couple months ago. However, his apartment is very empty and his fixed income doesn't allow him to purchase the furniture and cleaning supplies he needs to make it his new home. Milton has always had a cheerful and positive spirit and having these household items will encourage him to maintain his new space as he continues to help others in need.
