April from Chicago, IL

My kids & I have overcome 3 yrs of homelessness! My kids need beds to thrive.

After 3 yrs of homelessness, my kids & I are rebuilding. We have no furniture. Having beds is a huge step for us as we build our health & stability.

Overview

My name is April and I am a 36 year old mother with 4 children ages 16, 10, 8 and a 5 month old. I just got placed into my own low-income apartment after being homeless for 3 years. Before getting placed in my low-income apartment my children and I resided at You Can Make It Interim House Shelter.

My goals are to get approved for disability due to chronic physical and mental health issues. I have arthritis in both of my knees, right hip and lower back and I also have bi-polar and depression.

I need 3 twin size beds for my children and a queen size bed for me because we are currently sleeping on the floor.

Meeting this need will help me because I do not have any source of income currently due to my health challenges. Without your help, my children and I will continue to have to sleep on the floor, which is very hard on our bodies.
