Bob from Chicago, IL

I'm training in IT. A few months' help getting to classes will let me start a new career!

I need temporary assistance that would allow me to traveling back and forth to my training sites for six months until I complete the training program.

Overview

I am a 64-year-old unemployed individual. I am trying to get back into the work place by developing new IT skills that will help me be more productive and marketable.

My goals are to become CompTIA A+ certified, which is an an entry level Information Technology. I want to gain employment in the IT filed, eventually teaching technology skills to low-income students in order for them to be successful and become a vibrant members of society.

I need temporary assistance that would allow me to traveling back and forth to my training sites for six months until I complete the training program. This would require six months of public transportation assistance.

Meeting this need will help me because it would allow me to increase my study time due to the fact that I would not have to worry about walking to class at the Center for Changing Lives, which is about 6.5 miles. It would also alleviate stress and help maintain my health by not having to be outside for too long during the harsh Chicago winter.

I have been working with Bob as his employment coach and classroom facilitator since early August. He is extremely dedicated to obtaining his A+ certification, and has not missed a day of class since we have began this session. He is always willing to help sharing a variety of resources that he finds online. If Bob were to receive transportation assistance it would help him focus more on the class material, and working towards his employment goals as he would not have to worry about about funding his transportation cost on his limited income.
