Rachel from Chicago, IL

Training in Microsoft Office can lead me to a job, but I need a computer to practice.

While I am able to practice at the Center for Changing Lives, I need the chance to practice at home if I'm going to pass the Office Specialist exam.

My need and situation

I am a student at the Center for changing Lives in their Office Careers Training Program. I have been a cashier for the past 15 years, and I began the program because I wanted to move away from retail and into an office job.

My goals are to get the Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications in Word and Excel. From their I want to find a job as a receptionist or a customer service representative in an office environment.

I need is to obtain a computer, so I can finish the program. I have time to practice my Microsoft skills at the Center for Changing Lives, but outside of that I don't have the means to practice at home.

Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to learn the skills I need to pass the Microsoft Office Specialist exam, and begin my career in an office that I have wanted for so long.

Validated by Peter from Center for Changing Lives (What does this mean?)

Rachel has been working with CCL for just over a year, in that time she has made tremendous growth in her office skills and abilities, become more comfortable on the phone and increasing her computer skills. Rachel is very close to being able to take the certification exam, and I believe that if she were to get a laptop, she would be able to practice at home and test within a month!
