I'm living clean and found work; I could use help moving out of my shelter!

I'm proud to say I've recovered from addiction and found work. I want to move out of my shelter but I could use help on a security deposit.

Overview

I am a recovering addict who is enjoying life without the use of drugs. I have been living in a homeless shelter since January 14th, 2019 and I plan to get my own apartment. I would like to have a safe place to enjoy spending time with my grandchildren.

My goals are to save enough money so I can pay for a deposit on my own apartment, cover my moving expenses, and to increase my self-esteem. I got hired to work with a cleaning service yesterday and I get started today!

I need support in paying for a security deposit for an apartment. I am currently staying in a shelter, and the time they allow me to be there is coming to an end. Because of this timeline, and having just gotten a job, I will not have enough time to save for an apartment.

Meeting this need will help me move forward to the next stage in my life as an independently housed, safe, and sober woman. I am finally in a good place in my life, and I want to keep it that way!

I have known Letrece since January 2019 when she came to Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center (an outpatient, holistic, substance use recovery center). I have worked with her in groups and on a 1:1 basis. When Letrece first came to AnB she was guarded, quiet, and very reserved. She has truly blossomed, and made outstanding progress in her sobriety, her personal outlook, and her self-esteem. She just got a job, and she is genuinely excited to work. The support you offer her will allow her to move out of the shelter and into an apartment of her own! This is a big step for her, and she has the confidence to do it, and the support network to ensure her success. She's proud of herself and I am too!
