Going to college will let me support my mom who supported us on her own for many years. A laptop will let me write papers and keep up in my classes.

Thank you so very much to everyone who donated to my need. I am extremely appreciative because now I will be able to succeed in college. Having this laptop will help me keep up in college like typing term papers, researching and studying. Thanks again Benevolent.

Overview

I need a laptop for college, so that I can type papers and do out of class research. This includes a computer and insurance.

Meeting this need will help me because I will have the resources to succeed in college. I will be able to write term papers and conduct research when my school's library is closed.

My goal is to become a journalist or Public Relations figure. I have dreamed of being a public speaker and writer my whole life. But first I have to finish college. If I was given a laptop it will help me in my typing and computer skills and also with my homework.

My current situation is my parents are struggling to put me through college, they are not financially stable and will not be able to buy me the important resources I need to prepare me for college.

Right now, my biggest challenge is paying for college. I have applied for many scholarships. It is very expensive to pay for a laptop because my family has to take out loans to pay for my tuition.

Growing up, my family worked together to makes ends meet. My mom raised my sister, brother and I as a single parent and it was very difficult for her financially. It is very important to me to be the first in my family to go to college and make a future for myself where I will be able to take care of my family, my mom in particular; like she took care of me.

I think of myself mostly as a student. I will be graduating this June and I will be the first in my family to go to college. My mom is extremely proud of me and my accomplishments and I want to continue to make her proud while I'm away at my dream school.

I'm most proud of the achievements I've made and also the goals that I have created for myself. I will be the first person in my family to go off to college and I want to inspire the younger generation of my family to go far and beyond.

I've worked at jobs including day cares, day camps as a camp counselor, and at my family's church where I worked with youth.

Something interesting about me is that I am a nationally ranked squash player.

I have known Mary since she was in sixth grade. She has participated in METROsquash for the past 8 years. Mary has been one of the most consistent and dedicated students at METROsquash. I am continually impressed by her commitment to her future and the welfare of her teammates.

I think meeting this need is important because it will help ensure Mary is successful at college. A computer is an essential tool for keeping on top of assignments and research.

This will move Mary's life forward by helping her be the first in her family to not only go to college, but graduate. It will put her in a better position to remain successful.
