Thank you from Elizabeth Jan 17, 2014
Elizabeth has sent us this note of thanks:
Thank you so much for your incredible support. Having this taken care of is a huge weight off my shoulders. I now can enroll in Fall 2014 classes and move towards receiving my degree. I cannot fully express how relieved and excited I am. Thank you again.

Brianna, from Opportunity Junction, contacted us to say:
"Thank you so much for fulfilling Elizabeth's need! Thanks to you, she can now register for classes and start achieving her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. Your support not only helps Elizabeth; it also helps all the children she will touch for years to come!"
Overview
I need to resolve school obligations in order to continue my education and qualify for student aid. This includes incurred tuition costs for four general education classes.
Unfortunately, before I knew what my career path would be, I enrolled in a local community college and took some general education courses, but was unable to pay the tuition costs. Now that I know what I want to do with my life, I am unable to pursue the necessary education to attain my goal because of this lingering issue.
My goal is to become an elementary school teacher. It will allow me to positively effect the lives of young children. Additionally, it will allow me to begin a career that will be economically self-sufficient and help my family now and into the future.
Meeting this need will help me because I will be able to access grants and loans that will allow me to enroll in a 4-year university or college to obtain my degree in Education and, ultimately, become an elementary school teacher.
I had some really great teachers growing up. I want to be able to give just a little of what I received in encouragement, guidance and advice, back to children coming up.
I'm from Antioch, but I live in Pittsburg now with my husband and his family. We're newlyweds and are looking forward to starting a family. I like to sing and sang in a choir when I was in high school. I'm happiest when I'm working with children, and I'm most proud of completing the intensive Opportunity Junction computer training program. I love arts and crafts and doing anything creative, which will come in handy as an elementary school teacher.

We met when Elizabeth was selected for our Job Training and Placement Program in April of this year. I've been able to observe her as a student everyday. She has volunteered with us, as well.
I think meeting this need is important because without it, Elizabeth won't be able to move forward with starting a career. A career will help make her self-sufficient, allow her to support her family, and make it possible for she and her husband to find a place of their own - away from his family. Furthermore, Elizabeth is smart and funny, and nurturing and loving. She will make an excellent school teacher.
Elizabeth has been working in a paid internship where she provides administrative support to the office manager of a local charter school. She was specifically chosen for this assignment because of her savvy with technology and her ability to work cooperatively in a team, as well as her desire to work with children and her chosen career path.
