Sandy from Detroit, MI

With two active kids, a washer & dryer would make my home complete after homelessness

I need a washer & dryer to provide clean school clothes to my kids. I can't afford to go to the laundromat & have been washing their clothes by hand.

Overview

I'm from Michigan and I live in Detroit. I have a nine year old son and an eleven year old daughter and they both are on the honor roll. I love my children and am proud of my children. I'm happiest when my family is together. I love family, helping others, learning new things, and meeting new people.

My goal is to ensure that my children are comfortable and always prepared for their day so they can focus on their education. I would also like to start taking college classes again so that i can get a better, higher paying job. Thank you for listening to my story and for your support.

My current situaiton is I am washing clothes by hand because I have a fixed income that does not allow me to go to the laundromat as often as I need to go.

I need a washing machine and dryer. Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to provide clean, dry clothes to my children in a timely manner for school. This will make me feel comfortable in knowing that my kids are not worried about their appearance and can focus on school.

Sandy was referred to COTS five months ago.  She was a pleasant person to assist from the beginning.  She had just got a job and was doing so well.  We moved her and her two children into their home in June.

Since September of this year, Sandy has been unemployed.  She has obtained furniture for her home but still struggles to maintain clean clothing and linen for her family.  Her children are bright and happy to have a stable home but feel the burden of their mother's struggle to provide clean clothing.
