Tracey from Detroit, MI

I'm a proud mother recovering from a flood. I'm in need of beds for my family.

Two mattresses including box springs, frames, and mattress covers will help in my quest to rebuild the home I once had after relocating due to a flood

Tracey got what she needed and more! Aug 5, 2014

Tracey's validator reports:

"As Tracey continued to rebuild after the flood, her new home showed signs of bedbugs. As a precaution and because of your generous donations Tracey was able to get a bedbug treatment from Terminix in additional to new beds AND a few household items. Thank God for your support. Tracey would not be in the stable state she is in today without you."

Overview

I am a mother of two from Detroit. My oldest is away at college, which makes me very happy and proud. In fact, I'm happiest when I am with them and in knowing that my youngest is happy. One of the activities me and my daughter enjoy doing together is going to the movies.

My goal is to establish a good home for me and my daughter. At the moment we just have an apartment that doesn't have the comforts of a home because I had to throw everything out after a flood destroyed my previous furniture.

I recently had to transfer housing units due to a flood that distroyed most of my belongings. Eventually I will regain the things I lost, but my most immediate need are two mattresses for me and my daughter to sleep on. We currently sleep on the floor because we had to throw out our soiled mattresses with the rest of the damaged items. This is very uncomfortable and I worry if my daughter is getting rest for school.

Meeting this need will help me because my daughter and I can rest easy every night. It's especially important that she get the sleep she needs so she can do well in school during that day and eventually go to college like her brother.

I met Tracey at COTS about 1 1/2 years ago. She was transferred to my caseload about 4 months ago. Since that time I have serviced her with transferring to her current housing.

Tracey recently had an emergency which caused her to lose all of her furniture. Her and her 10 year old daughter now sleep on the floor. This has been a hardship for Tracey and especially not good for her 10 year old who has to be prepared to attend school on a daily basis.

Tracey is a dedicated mother who truly feels for her family. She has reached out for help because she isn't able to bounce back so easily from this recent event.
