We got word that Al has gotten all the items he needed for his new place!

Message from Jason: Mar 26, 2013

I spoke with Al yesterday and he is so excited and thankful for the generosity of these donors! He's been a joy to work with and I'm so pleased to see him continually move in the direction of his dreams.

Thanks from Al: Mar 25, 2013

To all the people who donated a warm thank you and I feel great. I am going to make the most of my life by hopefully becoming a lawyer in the future and try to give back. All the hard work I put in over the last 2 years is paying off but with the help from this wonderful program Benevolent there is no way I could have done this. To all the people who donate just remember there are a lot of people just like me and your help can lift up so many people out of homelessness.

Thank You so much

Al

Overview

I need cooking ware and small furniture for my new apartment. This includes pots and pans, a few kitchen utensils, and possibly some seating for my new space.

A year ago, I had a need funded on Benevolent for a waiter uniform for an upcoming position. Since that time, I have improved my situation in many ways. I am employed part-time in a position I enjoy. I am newly housed in my own apartment, which I moved into in mid-February. I continue to seek full-time employment

Right now, my biggest challenge is using my part-time salary to furnish and stock my new place. I feel like my life is coming back together and is back on track. I feel more confident and am now highly motivated to do even bigger and better things.

Meeting this need will help me because it will mean independence and forward movement. Once my apartment feels like a home, I will continue to feel more like a human being, outside of the shelter, paying my own rent. I will also be able to have company and host people in my home.

I think of myself mostly as a hardworking professional waiter. I really care about the people I wait on and have also worked very hard to give the best service I could possibly give on an a daily basis.

I'm most proud of that I got out of homelessness, and that Benevolent helped me in becoming a productive member of society. What a feeling to be able to pay your own rent, cook your own meals, and make your own bed.

I've worked at jobs including fine dining and waiting.

I am also considering returning to school to study law at Northeastern University.

I have known Al since September 2011 when he completed Inspiration's four-week Employment Preparation Training. Al jumped right in to an energetic job search immediately following and it didn't take him long to find something that fit him well.

I think meeting this need is important because Al needs to keep going. He has stabilized his life in so many ways. I've read the reviews on Yelp and Open Table that name him as the highlight of the diner's meal.

This will move Al's life forward by making his new space feel like his home, which he hasn't felt for almost 2 years.
