Lydia from Eldoret, Kenya

I've regained my health and studied; now I want to open a business!

I've learned hairdressing and cosmology at vocational college. With just $300 I can lease a space and buy supplies to start my business!

Overview

I am a 23 year old mother of two, student, and wife. I got a fistula from giving birth that was painful and embarrassing, but I had surgery to fix it and now I am healed.

My goals are to start a hair and beauty salon. I am almost finished with my hair dressing and beauty course at Ancilla Vocational College. After I graduate I will start my own business to earn income to provide for my family.

I need $300 to lease a space and buy supplies for my hair and beauty salon.

Meeting this need will help me because I have the education, skill, and drive to earn for my children - all that stands between me and my future is $300 to start up the business.

Lydia is a bright young person with a fierce determination to give her children good lives. I know her through Beyond Fistula's vocational training program - she plans to start her own business in hair dressing and beauty. Lydia will have our continued support in the form of check-ins as she starts her business, and I have faith that, should her need be met, she will soon be earning income to support her family.
