Leonard from Staten Island, NY

Veteran living on fixed income. My bike broke; a new one would help me stay healthy.

I ride my bike around Staten Island every day, to stay healthy and cope with PTSD. My bike broke recently and I can't afford a new one right now.

My need and situation

I am a 62yr old veteran of the US Army. I am currently retired, living by myself in Staten Island.

I have a daily routine of riding my bicycle around the island and sometimes in the greater NYC area. I use this activity as a way of staying healthy and as a form of coping with my PTSD.

My bicycle recently broke, I live on a fixed income, and do not have enough to purchase a new one. I would really like to replace my bicycle so I can get back to riding around the city. The new bicycle will cost $218, there are additional fees for assembly ($80), shipping, and taxes. In total the bike will cost about $350.

Meeting this need will help me continue to stay healthy physically as well as mentally.
