Alexander from Oakland, CA

Lack of education has held me back. I need to study & get my GED for a better future.

My goal is to get a good job that can sustain my bills and housing. First, I need to raise the fees for the GED course and exams.

Overview

I need assistance with school and education fees. This includes registration fee, test fee, and possibly re-test fee for a GED program.

Meeting this need will help me because I will no longer have to stagnate on certain things or areas of my life. Once this is complete, and I've obtained my GED, I will be able to tackle other priorities that are also essential in my life.

My goal is to have a good paying job that can sustain my bills and housing needs. Most employers want a GED in the areas that I want to seek out: working with kids, barber college, or automotive technology.

My current situation is I am employed but want to upgrade my education level since it is hard for me to find a good paying job without a GED or HS diploma. Not having my GED is a barrier in my life and it has prevented me from doing many things.

I would be greatly appreciate to be granted with this opportunity to finish and further my education so I can excel in life.

I'm from Vallejo, CA, and I live in Oakland, CA. Something interesting about me is that I try to keep my composure even when it's hard. I'm happiest when I am listening to music and with family. I'm most proud of my grandpa for teaching me a lot.

I have an optimistic attitude, comical personality, and a willingness to learn.

We met when Alexander applied for transitional housing. I interviewed him and helped him through the process of obtaining housing. Alexander has been in Beyond Emancipation's housing program for three months.

I think meeting this need is important because Alexander has struggled to gain valuable employment due to his lacking in education. Once he is able to enter and complete a GED program, his confidence in the job market will enhance. If this need is met, Alexander will also be able to pursue other goals in his life that he is striving.

Alexander is a funny and great young man who strives to be the best that he can. He has had trials in his life that hindered him from completing some important things but is willing and able to do all that he can.
