Lonnie from Chicago, IL

I'm a veteran finally approved for subsidized housing; I need help with the deposit & moving fees

I've waited for 2 years to get into this subsidized apartment. I'm due to move in mid-November & I need help with the security deposit & moving fees.

Updates

Thank You from Lonnie Nov 12, 2013

Spiritually, I have been elated with the help I received.  My life has turned on a positive note from the donations I received.

I would like to sincerely say thank you, thank you, and thank you.  The donations have truly been a blessing.  To the people who donated to my cause: it has been a blessing.

An aura of great relief was showered upon me.  I am truly grateful for those who helped me.  And again, I thank you all for your generosity and charity.

Overview

I need assistance in paying my security deposit and moving fees.

Meeting this need will help me because it will be money that I cannot afford to pay towards something as important as housing. It would mean a tremendous amount to me. I have been waiting to get into this subsidized housing for 2 years, and I hope to make it a reality. I also know many people close to me that live around the area that I will be able to be closer to in proximity. Being in my senior years, I would like to be in a comfortable position where I can continue to help others. I hope to make my life and other peoples' lives as well as comfortable as I can. Living well is the way to accomplish this. My birthday is also on the 16th of this month, and it would make for a wonderful birthday to have help paying this deposit.

I also want to raise awareness for LIFT-Chicago because I know of many folks who need help and this organization makes a difference in their lives.

My current situation is that I was recently approved for subsidized housing and have to pay a $189 security deposit and moving fees in order to move in. I need to pay this amount before the 16th of November. I do have an income but it is extremely minor, and I cannot afford this amount.

I'm from Chicago, Illinois.

I'm most proud of my health and strength! Something interesting about me is that I am a people-person and I'm happiest when my environment and the people around me are happy. I was raised up in the church and am a church-going man. My father was a pastor and minister.

I met Lonnie at LIFT-Chicago this year as he is a returning member of LIFT-Chicago.

Meeting this need is important because subsidized housing can take years to obtain. Individuals who apply are often placed on long waiting lists until they are approved. Lonnie's approval for housing is a very significant event in his life as he has been waiting for this to occur for over 2 years. The only roadblock in his way now is paying the security deposit and moving fees which he cannot afford.

Lonnie is an extremely appreciative and kindhearted individual, and we are filled with joy that he was approved for housing. We hope that by meeting his need this long journey for housing will at long last reach a positive conclusion.
