Overview

I am now a single mother of four children - two girls and two boys. Recently my husband walked out on me to move to another state, leaving me to care for our kids. I am currently unemployed so this has made the task very difficult.

My goals are to go back and get my college degree and become a Licensed Practitioner Nurse (LPN). This will provide me with a better income and means to provide for my children.

I need beds for my children and clothes and shoes for us all.

Meeting this need will help me because my children will be able to get a good night's rest so they can function throughout the day. With new clothes, I will be able to prepare them for school and feel comfortable when I go out and look for jobs.

I have known Nikki for several months since her son has been receiving service from Black Family Development. Her husband recently left her and moved out of town, which caught her off guard. She is currently unemployed and is in need of beds and clothes so her children can sleep comfortably at night and she has outfits to wear to interviews and look presentable when seeking employment. I feel this need should be funded because she needs a boost to help her make it to the next step of finding a job. She has been very diligent in her employment search and I know something will eventually come her way...she just needs the proper clothes for the confidence boost.
