Louise from Chicago, IL

I am a retired senior just in need of a bed to rest comfortably.

I have been sleeping in a chair until now because of my limited budget. A bed is what I need to get a good night's rest.

Louise wanted to say "Thank You!" Sep 16, 2014

She says, "I can finally lay down to sleep at night. The relief for my legs is unimaginable. I can't thank you enough for this gift, and for all you've done to improve my quality of life."

Overview

I am 81 years old. A retired single senior living alone in a fair market apartment building currently.

My goals are to obtain a subsidized senior apartment while planning for my future housing be it assisted living or a nursing home later in life.

I need a bed. My current apartment was a furnished SRO sold 12 years ago & the rent went up to fair market value consuming my social security check.

Meeting this need will help me because I've been sleeping in a chair & now using a walker. I have leg cramps which requires me to sleep in a reclining position now. My apartment is small & with my walker a regular bed won't fit so I feel a futon would serve my needs to continue to be mobile.

I have known Louise through the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center. We are working towards her housing goals to first obtain an affordable apartment senior friendly. A long term plan to assisted living & then a nursing home when the time comes. Discussing her overall needs Louise asked if I could assist her in getting a WWII army cot to sleep in instead of her chair. I'm hoping to go one better for her with a Futon to give her a goodnights rest & allow room to still move around with her walker.
