James has received his birth certificate! Dec 16, 2013
We're thrilled to announce that James' birth certificate has arrived!
From Addie, James' validator: Nov 1, 2013
James is so appreciative of his donation. He emailed me when it was funded to remark how amazed he was that it had been funded in just one hour. James is all ready to send in his birth certificate form now and already has an employer waiting for him to send a copy of his birth certificate when he receives his certificate. Thanks a lot for the help!
James wants to offer his thanks: Oct 31, 2013
First of all, I would like to thank them for their assistance with this. It feels really good to know that people are out there willing to help other people who are in need. Funding this need will help to open more employment opportunities that were not open to me before now. It was very encouraging to me to have this need funded so quickly.
Overview
My goal is to acquire permanent employment and seek housing. These ultimate goals will allow me to live a normal life.
My current situation is I am unemployed and I recently got out of jail, so I'm trying to restart my life.
I'm from Miami, but I moved to Chicago for a new start. I live with my brother, and I'm most proud of my son. I try to be a good role model for him. Something interesting about me is I love to travel. I'm happiest when I'm watching sports. Go Bears!
Need funded!
Thank you for helping James fund this need.

Validated
Validated by Addie from Chicago Lights: Elam Davies Social Service Center (What does this mean?)
Each need is validated by a nonprofit that knows the person and can verify that the help is necessary. Funds flow from Benevolent to the nonprofit, which then gets them to the person in need and lets us know how it went.

We met when we were interviewing participants for our Community Collaboration Project. I now meet with James every week, and he is a very professional, timely, and dedicated member to the group this year in the Project.
I think meeting this need is important because a birth certificate is so vital to so many parts of the employment process. James is very good at taking initiative and completing the goals he sets for himself. (His application for a birth certificate is already filled out, we just need this processing fee before we send it!) Having a birth certificate will make him that much more equipped to get back on the employment track. He's ready!
I think it's very symbolic that this is a "birth" certificate--what a beautiful way to usher in this new phase in James' life!
