James is so excited to have his computer now! When he brought it in to show me, he had already begun to work on his tax business preparation when I opened it up. Things are looking up for James now that he has this opportunity for independence. Look how great he looks!

I was just able to get the computer, and today it was shipped to my house! I would like to humbly thank the donors for assisting me in purchasing this computer because this will definitely give me a start on establishing my tax practice. It will definitely have a positive impact on my life. Getting this need met was a surprise, and it was also something that gave me additional confidence that I could get this done. It truly made me feel good. More importantly than that, I'm very excited.
Overview
I need a computer to help jumpstart my tax business. This includes a laptop that allows me access to the internet and the ability to file individual tax returns online.
If I had a computer, I would be able to start my own private tax preparation business. I already have the skillset and experience, but I need the resource of a computer to fulfill this goal.
My goal is to provide an income for myself so that I can move toward more independence, specifically regarding my housing situation. With this full-time job, I will be more financially independent, and can finally provide housing for myself.
Right now, to prepare for this jumpstart of my own business, I have been researching and updating my skillset on new tax laws.
My current situation is I have a part-time job, but I would like to pursue more full time employment in my area of expertise, individual tax preparation.
I would like to say that I'm extremely highly motivated and excited about the opportunity to prepare taxes independently and pursue my dreams to become self employed.
I'm from Miami, but I moved to Chicago for a new start. Now I live with my brother.
Something interesting about me is I love to travel. I'm happiest when I'm watching sports. Go Bears!
I'm most proud of my son. I try to be a good role model for him.

Learn more »We met when we were interviewing participants for our Community Collaboration Project at EDSSC. I now meet with James every week, and he is a very professional, timely, and dedicated member to the group this year in the Project. He has taken a lot of steps towards independence in the past few weeks.
I think meeting this need is important because it allows James more independence in his life. James has the extensive experience needed for this job, and in today's digital age, James has a very realistic model for business that is detailed and well-planned. This computer will allow him to carry out that plan, and go from a job that merely provides to a job that provides AND fulfills.
As James waits for this need to potentially be filled, he is currently working hard to earn a part-time salary. With this need filled, he will be able to transition to full-time, in his area of expertise. So not only will this need provide opportunities for independence and a more stable salary, but James can actually work at something he loves to do--help others!
