Kela from Detroit, MI

Determined to be on the Dean's List in college. A computer will help me succeed!

I'm keeping my goals high, knowing I have the capacity to achieve them. A computer will help me carry out research, complete papers & study online.

Overview

I am an 18 year old female who just graduated this year. Those around me would identify me a leader with the qualities of being a go-getter, articulate, mentally strong and compassionate. I've been using these qualities to help others around me and have high hopes of starting my mentoring program in college.

My goals are are to work hard in college to be on the dean's list. I also want to start my own mentoring program in college for high school kids. I also want to be crowned as the university campus queen, and to appear in Ebony magazine for all my achievements. I'm majoring in International Business so that I can travel the world while being involved with business once I finish school.

I need a computer to help me accomplish my academic goals in college.

Meeting this need will help me because it will allow me to carry out research, complete papers and studying with my online books. A computer will be one of my tools to success, helping me get good grades and land on the dean's list.

I have known and observed Kela for three years. She has been a positive role model for her peers at her school and as a youth leader at the local community resource center. She provides administrative assistance and demonstrates technical skills on a voluntary basis yet does not own or possess resources at home. Our relationship is that of a mentor/mentee and during our conversations she has indicated that she would benefit from use of her personal computer as she prepares to start college.

About Kevin

I am a Community Relations Specialist who provides support and advocacy for children, youth and families primarily on the West side of Detroit. I am greatly motivated by working in my community and I aspire to continue to do this.
