My job title is Employment Supervisor at the International Rescue Committee. I oversee the employment department at the international rescue committee. What the Employment Program does is provide vocational counseling, resume preparation, jobs class, job search and placement services, and financial assistance for basic needs to over 300 clients a year. Our goal is to have our clients on the program become economically self sufficient through employment.
What I like about my job is seeing the impact our program has on our clients. Even when we have a clients who have complied with the program to no end, but cannot seem to gain employment, seeing their transformation from month one - be it they have limited english skills or are lacking in confidence- and seeing these obstacles improve by the end of the program, is remarkable!
