Byron
I am a Workforce Development Specialist employed by the Tucson Urban League to work at the Pima County One-Stop Career Center. I am part of an inter-agency team providing career development services for adult job seekers. I assist participants to develop an individual employment plan based on an individualized assessment. For those who lack the skills necessary to obtain employment, we provide assistance with occupational training and/or adult education. I guide participants in researching the labor market, interviewing people in their chosen field, reviewing schools, degrees and certificates, and developing a thorough training plan. I also provide support and resources for participants during their job search and follow up after they get hired to ensure a smooth transition to, and retention of, employment.
What I like about my job is that I am able to help people reach their goals to secure employment. The training we provide helps them with this.
